Virtual Tour of Jewish Dublin
Hosted By: Jewish Majorca, Baltimore Zionist District
Please join the Baltimore Zionist District and Jewish Majorca on a virtual tour of Jewish Dublin guided by Alexander Vard. Jews are first documented arriving in Ireland in 1171 but did not become a sizeable population until the arrival of Russian refugees in the late 1800s. Today, roughly 2,500 Jews live in the Irish Republic with two active synagogues, one reform, and one Orthodox in Dublin. The community is most known for being immortalized in the person of Leopold Bloom, the main character of James Joyce’s Ulysses often considered the most extraordinary novel of the 20th century.
