Nahmanides (Ramban) was the greatest halakhist of the thirteenth century and remains one of the most original and creative expositors of the bible that the Jewish tradition has ever produced’ (Halbertal 2020). Was Nahmanides a mystic or a rationalist? In what ways did he oppose Maimonides? What were his top 20 pieces of biblical exegesis? This course will attempt to answer some of these questions, explore the complexities in his writings, and come to a greater understanding of his philosophy.
