Through Their Mothers’ Eyes
Hosted By: CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center (Indiana)
The next generation tells the stories of their mothers: one a survivor of Auschwitz and the other a rescuer of Jews. The presenters share different but remarkable stories of hope during the greatest atrocity of the 20th century.
Part 1: Irving Lubliner tells the story of his mother, Felicia Bornstein Lubliner’s survival of Polish ghettos and two Nazi concentration camps and her indomitable spirit.
Part 2: Jeannie Smith tells the story of her mother, Irene Gut Opdyke’s rescue efforts to save the lives of Jews while working for a high-ranking German official.
Part 3: Moderated question and answer session.
