Pride Shabbat at Woodlands Community Temple

Woodlands Community Temple and its Inclusion Task Force invite you to join us as we observe our 6th annual Pride Shabbat service at 8 pm EDT on Friday, June 3, 2022. This welcoming service of inclusion and love will feature Rakhel Silverman from Keshet, an organization that supports full equality of all LGBTQ+ Jews and their families in Jewish life.

Keshet supports and strengthens Jewish communities, equipping them with skills and knowledge to build LGBTQ-affirming communities, to create spaces in which all queer youth feel seen and valued and to advance LGBTQ+ rights nationwide.

Rakhel is the New York Education & Training Manager for Keshet. Rakhel will share their journey of coming to terms with their queer and nonbinary identities, after growing up in a non-affirming home and Jewish community. Rakhel will speak about how they view their Jewish and queer identities as integral to each other, and how they reconciled with their family of origin. Rakhel will also share how crucial it is to support trans and nonbinary youth, who are being attacked with legislation across the country, and will conclude with calls to action.
