The Family Roe in a Post-Roe World: Author Josh Prager in Conversation with NPR’s Michel Martin
Hosted By: Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, B'nai Jeshurun of New York City (BJ)
For more than 20 years, Joshua Prager, a former senior writer for The Wall Street Journal, has written about historical secrets. His latest book, The Family Roe, illuminates the unknown stories and people behind the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case, and enables the public, for the first time, to see the abortion debate in America in its full social and personal context.
Join the author in conversation with Emmy-winning journalist Michel Martin, weekend host of NPR’s All Things Considered, in a program that will examine the book through the lens of the recent Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision and consider what a post-Roe future might look like.
Joshua Prager has written for the Atlantic, Vanity Fair, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. A former Harvard Nieman Fellow and a Fulbright Distinguished Chair at Hebrew University, he is the author of The Echoing Green (a Washington Post Best Book of the Year), 100 Years (with Milton Glaser), and The Family Roe: An American Story, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2022.
Michel Martin is an Emmy-winning journalist and the weekend host of NPR’s All Things Considered and former host of Tell Me More. Michel currently serves as a contributor for PBS’s Amanpour & Company. Her previous credits include ABC News, Nightline, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. Michel has been honored by numerous organizations, including receiving the Candace Award for Communications from The National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
