Washington’s Jewish Ball Players
Hosted By: Haberman Institute, 70 Faces Media
There have been some 18,000 players in the history of Major League Baseball. Approximately 1%, 180 players have been Jewish. Of the 180 some 10%, 18 have played for the Washington Senators or Washington Nationals. None of them were Hall of Famers, but many of them had interesting stories, including the “Clown Prince of Baseball” and a World War II U.S. spy.
And interestingly, probably the best of the “Jewish ballplayers” who played here, well, wasn’t Jewish! (It’s a lot easier to identify the Jewish players who played professional football, basketball, and hockey in Washington. We’ll take a quick look at them, too.)
Discover these stories, and many more with Washington’s own, Phil Hochberg.
