Yiddish Publishing Around the World
Hosted By: Yiddish Book Center (Amherst, MA)
Over the past 150 years, Yiddish books, newspapers, and magazines have been published on every continent (except for Antarctica!). International migration patterns, together with political and economic factors, have influenced where Yiddish publishing flourished, and after 1945, in the wake of the Holocaust, new centers of Yiddish publishing emerged, even in the face of widespread linguistic assimilation. This presentation will focus on several noteworthy episodes in Yiddish publishing history, along with key personalities who were associated with these developments.
This live event will be presented via Zoom. Space is limited—registration is required.
