Tracing Your Jewish roots

A 3-session class consisting of a general introduction to Jewish genealogy by officers of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Greater Washington, a discussion of DNA testing & analysis as applied to Ashkenazi individuals, and two cousins’ family research that used diverse sources to find facts about their ancestors and discover interesting relatives they had never heard of and their relationship to a long-standing Israeli issue. The middle session will be hybrid: both in person and on Zoom.

The Jewish Study Center offers a wide array of classes and programs of Jewish content and invites anyone, regardless of background, to learn, grow and socialize with our community of learners. Our classes include text study in Bible, Mishna, Talmud, and Midrash, as well as courses in Jewish arts and culture, ethics, history, and philosophy. Courses regularly apply Jewish tradition to issues of social action, politics, interpersonal relationships, and work.
