The Pre-Nuptial Agreement in Jewish Law
Hosted By: London School of Jewish Studies (LSJS)
In the USA, the Pre-Nuptial Agreement of the Beth Din of America is held up as the solution to the Aguna crisis. And yet, around the world, Get refusal continues, blighting hundreds of lives.
What can we learn about the possibilities for pre-nuptial agreements in our sources? What formulations have been used historically around the world and on what basis? What are the current available options and how do they help? Come and explore a critical issue facing the Jewish community today. Joanne has several years’ experience working on resolving difficult cases of Get refusal, as well as educating on the laws of gittin and the use of current pre-nuptial agreements. Her experience at the intersection of law and halacha, together with critical urgency of this topic in the community, makes this area a particular passion.
