Xeuta Island: A Hidden History

Hosted By: Haberman Institute

XUETA ISLAND: A HIDDEN HISTORY, shares the widely-unknown story of the Xuetas, an isolated group of Jews on the Mediterranean island of Majorca in Spain. In the 1400s, the Xuetas were forced to convert to Catholicism to save their lives. Today, their dark story of survival is sparking a Jewish renaissance across the community.

Watch the documentary at home, and then discuss this film that interrogates fundamental questions of human nature such as historical memory; identity and belonging; generational clashes; and the preservation of tradition.

Location: Screen the film at home. Then, join us online for the director talk.
