Melton Meets the Moment: An Inside Look at the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
Jews around the world are feeling the impact of the war in Israel. While focused on what’s happening in Israel, we’re also keenly aware of the scary rise of antisemitism. While Jews make up only 2.4% of the U.S. population, they are the victims of 55% of all religious based hate crimes. Yet about half of Americans do not think that antisemitism is a major problem in this country. That disparity was central to the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism’s decision to launch the Stand Up to Jewish Hate campaign last spring featuring their now signature Blue Square. The $25 million advertising campaign, specifically targeting people outside the Jewish community, raised awareness about antisemitism and built empathy for the Jewish community. Now, the Foundation is focused on reaching even more Americans and sharing the Blue Square as the universal symbol to rally support against Jewish hate. Join the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism’s senior advisor Matthew Berger as he shares with us what the Foundation is doing to fight back against antisemitism right now.
