Free Intro to Mussar and Kabbalah

Hosted By: Kabbalah Experience

Mussar offers a framework and a toolkit for translating the wisdom of kabbalah (specifically the sefirot of the Tree of Life) into a personalized, ongoing spiritual discipline – harnessing the midot in service of others. In this series of nine classes, Rabbi Jamie Arnold will facilitate this transformative group using two primary sources: 1) An introduction to mussar by Alan Morinis called “Everyday Holiness: The Jewish Spiritual Path of Mussar;” 2) a new book by Rabbi Toba Spitzer that explores metaphors for the Divine from nature through a mussar lens called “God is Here: Reimagining the Divine.” The qualities we will focus on in order to grow our capacity for sacred service will be silence (sound), compassion and trust (rock).

Classes are offered in-person and virtually through Zoom

Free intro classes are approximately 1 hour long

God And Metaphor

Believers and skeptics alike tend to view God similarly -- as big, all-powerful, and good. But there are other options.

Tikkun in Lurianic Kabbalah

In contemporary parlance, tikkun olam refers to repairing the earthly world in which we live but in Luria's teachings, complete tikkun would undo the world we know.
