Images of Women in Israeli Cinema
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
In the last 25 years, Israeli cinema has turned its lens to multiple subjects dealing with humanistic stories, issues of gender, and social issues. In this engaging follow-up to Israeli media expert Amy Kronish’s hit Melton series “Examining Israeli Identity through Film and Television”, we will concentrate on portrayals of women in film and, in many of the cases, examine films directed by women. With these films as the launching point, one can better understand the complexity, nuance, and humanity found in Israeli society.
