Discussion on ‘The Amen Effect’: Exploring Community and Connection in Challenging Times
Hosted By: Institute for Jewish Spirituality
Rabbi Sharon Brous is the author of the new book, “The Amen Effect: Ancient Wisdom to Mend Our Broken Hearts and World.” In it, Rabbi Brous contends that our most urgent work in these challenging times is to reach out to one another in a spirit of mutual connection, sacred presence, and holy belonging. Rabbi Josh Feigelson and Rabbi Brous will discuss the implications of this cry for renewed connection. In an age of polarization, miscommunication, and isolation, how can we prioritize relationships? What are the ancient roots of the duty to see and hold one another in fullness and clarity? How can this effort improve our lives morally, biologically, and culturally? What are the obstacles to following this most basic human instinct? Their discussion will investigate the profound and interconnected powers of community and care.
