Greece was the epicenter of Sephardi culture in Europe and home to the unique Greek-speaking Romaniote community, as well as Jews who took refuge from across Europe. Before WWII, the Jewish population numbered around 80,000, but the Holocaust decimated their numbers; today, the community works to preserve its unique heritage.
