Most Yiddish songs known today were created in the first half of the 20th century and distributed through commercial channels such as sheet music, concerts, and radio broadcasts. This discussion focuses on lesser-known Eastern Yiddish musical folklore that emerged over approximately four hundred years before the formation of the popular repertoire.
