Forms Serving Functions: Coins and Medals as Judaica

Hosted By: The Center for Jewish History

The Center for Jewish History will host a presentation on the exhibition, “Jewry Reflected, Refracted, and Recorded on Medals,” which explores the rich history of Jewish coins, tokens, and medals. These numismatic items have played active roles in the religious and social lives of Jewish communities, both in the Holy Land and the Diaspora, providing material evidence of past Jewish experiences. The talk will explore the various forms and functions these items have assumed over the centuries.
