Jewish Walking Tour of Greenwich Village

Hosted By: The New York Jewish Week

Join the New York Jewish Week’s next in-person walking tour on March 23!

As one of the most iconic neighborhoods in New York City, Greenwich Village is as popular today as it was when Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Allen Ginsberg and others roamed the streets.

But did you know the Jewish history of the Village goes back well over 200 years?

Congregation Darech Amuno, now housed in a 150-year-old converted townhouse, has existed there since 1838. One of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in the country is hidden in plain sight just off of 6th Avenue. One of the first homes of Temple Emanu-El was in a converted Baptist Church from 1854-1868. Add all of that to the epic list of Jewish musicians, artists and activists who lived in the Village over the years, and you have a bounty of things to see and appreciate.

What to know: In this new two-and-a-half-hour tour, we won’t use the subway, but you should wear comfortable sneakers! And bring an umbrella — barring a dangerous storm, this tour will be rain or shine. The starting point will be emailed to all ticket buyers.

Tickets are very limited, so grab yours today!
