Tu Bishvat is behind us, which means that Purim is less than a month away. Have you started thinking about your costume yet? Think it’s a little early? Think again.

Every year I wait until the last minute and wind up with a costume that is much less than inspiring. This year, however, I have a brand new baby boy to celebrate with, so it’s time to do Purim right (especially if it’s going to be our Halloween substitute).

So I’ve been hard at work looking for the perfect costume for him, trying to navigate between my need to dress him in something outrageously adorable with the desire not to exploit him for my own amusement-especially given the fact that he does not yet have the words to stop me.

Should I dress him in a traditional Mordechai costume? Or perhaps I should go more contemporary. Superbaby, DarthVader-baby, CowBaby? With costume resources all over the internet, I’m limited only by my imagination.
