It’s that time of the week again. I tell you what you missed on MJL and you expand your mind. Seems to me like a pretty good deal.
This may or may not surprise you, but the issue that sparks the most amount of debate in the MyJewishLearning office has nothing to do with God (unless God has to do with everything), Israel, Obama, covering your hair, etc. The biggest point of debate in the office usually has to do with food. I have to say that in every discussion that has taken place, I’ve been on the pro-side of that food. And this week is no exception. That food? Pickled Beef Tongue.
Our new recipe has prompted a few people in the office to wonder how someone could eat something so gross looking. But I argued the opposite. Why is it that people are so willing to kiss tongues, yet not eat it? Would you ever touch someone’s liver? Of course not. That would be absurd. Not to mention murder.
Haven’t read about women’s issues in Judaism lately? Read our two new articles about the history of Jewish lesbianism and a biography of feminist thinker, Rachel Adler.
Finally, this last article isn’t really for me but it might be of interest to you. Here is a list that we have compiled of suggestions for great summer readings.
Why isn’t that article for me? Because I’m protesting it until it includes Playboy and/or a Choose Your Own Adventure book. I’m sorry, but I won’t go against my morals and beliefs.
