Last weekend, I finally got to see the new Judd Apatow film, Funny People. I’ll spare you the review. In a nutshell, it was good. Long for no reason, but good.
Judd Apatow actually lived with Adam Sandler back when they were up and coming comedians in L.A. So, one element of the movie that was totally amazing was spliced in old home videos and early stand up of Sandler that Apatow must have had lying around. One of these great clips was Sandler doing an old routine about his bar mitzvah.
Now this got me thinking. Who has a funnier bar mitzvah bit? Sandler or his counterpart in the film, Seth Rogen? Luckily, there is a video of Rogen as a teenager also doing stand up. So lets compare. Keep in mind, Rogen must have been about 13-14 during his clip and Sandler was already a professional comic. But still, I think Rogen takes the cake. Judge for yourself.
Rogen’s bar mitzvah bit starts at about the 4:40 mark.
I’ve also been told that Comedy Central clips don’t work in Canada. So for that, I apologize.
