Elvis Has Left the Country

Those crazy Israelis. They always have tricks up their sleeves. Just when you think you’ve got them figured out, they throw you a curveball.

Until about five minutes ago, I thought that Elvis was distinctively American. While other musical icons like Michael Jackson and Madonna has a universal quality to them, I just figured that Elvis was not the type of artist who other cultures would appreciate to the same degree.

Boy, was I wrong. This video features a restaurant in Israel, called the Elvis Inn, that is dedicated to the King. There are Israeli Elvis impersonators. They have a weird accent that is a strange mix of a southern twang and an Israeli army commander. In other words, creepy.

I propose they go all 770 on this, and build a Graceland replica. When you’ve already crossed the creepy barrier, you might as well go all out.
