Images of Endurance: The Last Holocaust Survivors
Hosted By: The Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights (TOLI)
Join The Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights for International Holocaust Remembrance Day to pay tribute to those who survived the ordeal of Nazism and genocide. The Lonka Project brought together 300 of the world’s leading professional photographers from 35 countries to capture Holocaust survivors in a unique and memorable statement about their lives. Through stunning images of survivors, we bear witness to their remarkable lives, despite the horrors and traumas they endured. We honor them and those who perished while exploring how photography can be a valuable component of Holocaust education.
The virtual panel will include Jim Hollander, Founder and Co-Director of The Lonka Project; Yigal Cohen, CEO, The Ghetto Fighters’ House Museum; and Sonia Kam, who survived the Holocaust as a “hidden child” and whose photograph with her sister, taken by the world-renowned photographer, Steve McCurry, is in the collection. Sonia will share her harrowing experiences, hidden in a monastery in Belgium while much of her family was killed in the Holocaust. Program introduction by Harry D Wall, Board of Directors of TOLI.
