Commentary on Parashat Vayakhel-Pekudei, Exodus 35:1 - 40:38

Every week, Julie Seltzer, artist and

scribe, bakes a depicting an aspect of the week’s Torah portion.

And the cherubim spread out their wings on high, screening the ark-cover with their wings, with their faces one to another; toward the ark-cover were the faces of the cherubim. (Exodus 37:9)

יִּהְיוּ הַכְּרֻבִים פּרְשֵׂי כְנָפַיִם לְמַעְלָה סכְכִים בְּכַנְפֵיהֶם עַל-הַכַּפּרֶת וּפְנֵיהֶם אִישׁ אֶל-אָחִיו אֶל-הַכַּפּרֶת הָיוּ פְּנֵי הַכְּרֻבִים

These cherubum sit facing each other on top of the ark. They both face the ark-cover, as well as each other.
