Aligned to the Land? Experiencing Tu BiShvat Down Under

Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning

Tu BiShvat, known as the new year of the trees, is a special day symbolizing rejuvenation, rebirth and growth, connected to the land of Israel. But, what about for Jews Down Under? What does Tu BiShevat mean to celebrants in the Southern Hemisphere when it occurs in the Summer? Rabbi Noam Hayman will share reflections on what this day means to the Australian Jewish community and highlight the unique experiences of celebrating seasonal festivals in the “wrong” time.
