Beit Shearim: The Ancient Jewish Necropolis
Hosted By: Volunteers for Israel (VFI)
Visit this often-overlooked site of Beit Shearim, which was chosen by rabbi Yehuda HaNassi – the assembler of the Mishna – to become his gravesite. For centuries, it was known as the greatest Jewish cemetery. We will “visit” the caves, menorahs and inscriptions, as well as the statue of the most famous shomer, Alexander Zaid who found the site some 90 years ago.
