The Yiddish Book Center presents a livestreamed talk with writer, translator, and journalist Benjamin Balint as he discusses his most recent book, “Bruno Schulz: An Artist, a Murder, and the Hijacking of History.” The book offers a fresh portrait of Polish-Jewish writer and artist Bruno Schulz and a gripping account of the secret operation to rescue his last artworks. Balint will discuss the ensuing international debate over who has the right to curate orphaned artworks and to interpret their meanings. This event will be streamed live via Zoom and also presented in person at the center in Amherst, MA.
