Calculating the Jewish Calendar
Hosted By: FreelanceJudaism
The Jewish calendar is a lunisolar calendar, following both the sun (for the seasons) and the moon (for the months). This complex system which dates back nearly 2,000 years is a mathematical puzzle making it very difficult to figure out just when the holidays (or even your birthday) will fall on the secular Gregorian calendar.
Join us as we explore not only how the Jewish calendar is set up, but also how to navigate between the secular and the religious. We’ll dive into the Mathematics that helps programmers build calendars, and gain a deeper understanding of why Hanukah is sometimes in November.
