Clickable Wisdom: Using Sefaria’s Digital Library to Uncover Everyday Ethical Teachings
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
How is a Jewish idea transmitted and transformed over the course of generations? Judaism has many big ideas about justice and the ideals that shape an ethical and just life. In this four-part course you will explore significant issues of the human experience, their development over the generations, and their everyday applications to modern life. The four topics covered include the right and responsibility of privacy; complicity and bad advice; verbal abuse; and the boundaries of competition. This Melton Online course was developed in partnership with Sefaria, a living library of Jewish texts. In each lesson, learners will join their teacher in utilizing Sefaria to access the texts and trace the development of Jewish ideas from the Bible through the Talmud to the present. This course welcomes anyone curious in the topic and/or interested in exploring this rich online resource.
November 14, 21, 29, and December 5. Sign-ups are permitted after the first class.
