From Solomon to Herzl: Visions of the Temple Built and Rebuilt
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
Since the early stages of Jewish history, the Temple has been at the very core of the Jewish narrative. From the anticipation of the establishment of a central Temple in Jerusalem to the glorious aspirations of what that Temple could mean for the Jewish nation and the world at large, our history and future are inextricably connected to the narrative of the Temple. This Tisha B’Av, as Jews everywhere mourn the destruction of both the First and Second Temples, join Melton’s International Director, Rabbi Dr. Morey Schwartz, to examine the dashed hopes and dreams associated with those Temples alongside a provocative Utopian vision of what a rebuilt Temple could offer our world today.
