George Grosz (1893-1959): The Stick Men

Hosted By: The Fritz Ascher Society for Persecuted, Ostracized and Banned Art

Karli Wurzelbacher, PhD, will give a talk on George Grosz’s “Stick Men” series, created in Huntington between 1947 and 1959, which features hollow figures in an apocalyptic landscape. The series offers a searing indictment of humanity following World War II, the Holocaust, and the atomic bombings. This talk is presented in conjunction with the exhibition “George Grosz: The Stick Men,” on view at The Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington, New York, from May 11 through September 1 in collaboration with The Fritz Ascher Society.
