Jewish Goddess: An Exploration of the Divine Feminine in Jewish Texts

Join guest teacher Rabbi Rachael Pass on Zoom for a three-part class exploring the Divine Feminine throughout Jewish texts.

We’ll examine goddess figures, such as the Canaanite Goddess Asherah; the Kabbalistic goddess-figure of Chochmah, Lady Wisdom; and the most well-known feminine aspects of God in Jewish, Shechinah. Together we’ll learn more about our knowable God and the divinity within ourselves.

Teacher

Rabbi Rachael Pass

Rabbi Rachael Pass is the associate rabbi and manager of the spiritual counseling program at the T'Shuvah Center, a Jewish community for individuals in recovery from addiction of all kinds. She is a recent ordinand from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University. Rachael is currently studying for a second master's degree at the Jewish Theological Seminary in Jewish Gender and Women's Studies, focusing her research on queer and feminist philosophy, theology/thealogy, and ritual. She has written extensively on Jewish views of abortion, creative Jewish rituals including reclaiming mikveh, and feminist Jewish thought and Goddess-concepts. Rachael is passionate about intersectional feminism, Jewish ritual, and reading as many books as she can get her hands on.
