Clive Lawton will lead a three-part program exploring the origins and meanings of the word “Israel” and the historical, political, and current situations facing the State of Israel. The sessions will cover the evolution of Israel’s enemies from Egypt to the PLO to Hamas and consider the boundaries of the “Promised Land.” The program will also address whether Israel can navigate its many challenges using the creativity of Jews and Israelis.
