Temple Emanu-el NY-12 Candidate Forum
Hosted By: Streicker Center Temple Emanu-El NYC
After years as colleagues in Washington, Jerry Nadler, representing the West Side of Manhattan, and Carolyn Maloney, representing the East Side, are facing off in a rare incumbent-vs-incumbent primary on August 23 sparked by redistricting. Also vying to represent the newly-drawn 12th district are attorney Suraj Patel, who came within 3 points of beating Maloney in 2020, and first-time candidate Ashmi Sheth.
Will the last Jew left in New York’s congressional delegation be reelected? Will New York’s senior congresswoman receive another term? Or will one of the newcomers upend Manhattan politics?
As you prepare to exercise your right to vote in the Democratic primary in NY-12, join us to hear the candidates address the crucial issues facing our city and our country, from inflation and the war in Ukraine to gun control, abortion, climate change, and the culture wars.
