The Five Megillot: Song of Songs
Hosted By: My Jewish Learning
Watch the recording of this session here:
In Song of Songs, the biblical poetry traditionally read during Passover, young lovers explore a spring-time world in bloom, sometimes seen as a metaphor for the Jewish mystical paradigm of union with the divine. In this class, we will explore the beauty of Song of Songs while considering its broader place in the canon and in the history of Jewish thought.
This class is part of My Jewish Learning’s series with Rabbi Sara Brandes on the Megillot – the biblical scrolls – that are chanted on Purim, Passover, Shavuot, Tisha B’Av, and Sukkot.
