‘The History of the Alphabet & the Letters in Jewish Script’
Hosted By: Orange County Jewish Community Scholar Program ("CSP")
The Orange County Jewish Community Scholar Program presents a talk on the origins and evolution of the alphabet, tracing its invention in the Middle East 4,000 years ago. The session explores how this writing system influenced the Bible, Jewish culture, and the way Jewish thinkers interpreted the letters they used. Drawing on material from the Bible, inscriptions, and rabbinic texts, the talk pieces together the history of the Hebrew letters.
