The Judicial Overhaul in Israel and its Impact on the Media Landscape
Hosted By: Haberman Institute
Recent changes proposed to the Israeli constitutional structure have led to a nationwide civil uprising and a debate about the separation of power among the country’s branches of government. Indeed, what is mostly seen as an overhaul of the judiciary has an impact on the Fourth Estate, the media, as well. Amit Schejter, professor of communication studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev who specializes in media law and policy, will discuss the Israeli media scene and the implications of the proposed changes on freedom of expression, privacy, and cultural production.
