The Story of Modern Israel

Hosted By: Union for Traditional Judaism (UTJ)

Rabbi Seth Gordon shares the history of modern Israel, beginning with the 19th century settlers and Herzl and concluding with the first decade of the 21st century. Over five sessions you’ll learn about modern Israel and WWI, the British Mandate years, and WWII, culminating in the 1947 UN Partition and Israel’s 1948 independence. Additionally, the class will explore the subsequent history and international and domestic political, social, economic, and religious challenges that Israel faced and still faces today.
