The Unknown World of Russian- Jewish Artists (Not Just Chagall)

Hosted By: Baltimore Zionist District

Whenever we speak about Jewish Art in Russia, we think of Marc Chagall. However, he is not the only one. Join us as we explore the unknown world of the Russian- Jewish artists.

The late 19th and early 20th centuries gave us many talented Jewish artists looking to find their unique classical and modern artistic styles. Jewish artists in Russia worked and created unique masterpieces in every class, from realism to avant-garde. Moreover, they worked hard to find out and express Jewish identity through Art.

Evgenia will show us their best work and speak about their views over “Jewish art” and “Jewish artist” phenomena, and we will have the opportunity to understand the great gift Jewish artists of Russia gave to the world in the 20th century.
