The World of the Sofer

Reuven Schlenker, a distinguished Sofer, will discuss the intricacies of writing Jewish religious texts, including Torah Scrolls and Mezuzahs, addressing the rules, tools, qualifications, and the extent of artistry in Hebrew calligraphy involved. The session will cover the responsibilities of a Sofer, provide a brief history of the scribal arts, and explain the related rabbinical laws. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to see the Sofer’s tools and view examples of his work.
