These Words: Poetic Midrash on the Language of Torah

Hosted By: CCAR Press

As Shavuot approaches, join CCAR Press to celebrate the release of “These Words: Poetic Midrash on the Language of Torah” by Alden Solovy. In “These Words” Solovy distills the Torah into its very essence: the individual words it contains. Choosing seventy words that are ripe with meaning, he delves into the etymology, translation, and usage, providing deeper insights into familiar texts. Then he presents a beautiful poem—a “poetic midrash”—inspired by and interpreting each word. The event will feature a conversation between Alden and Rabba Yaffa Epstein, Senior Scholar and Educator in Residence at the Jewish Education Project and author of the book’s foreword.
