Virtual Walking Tour: From Paupers to Prime Ministers in Jewish Whitechapel

Hosted By: The Museum of Jewish Heritage-- A Living Memorial to the Holocaust

Whitechapel, the old Jewish quarter of London, was a 19th and early 20th-century center of London’s Jewish community. The tour guide Sam, whose family has Jewish roots in this area, will take tourists on a live, virtual journey through time. The tour will start with a visit to the famous Bevis Marks Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in the United Kingdom. Next, attendees will explore the streets and byways of the Jewish East End, historic mercantile Brick Lane, and Spitalfields Market. Learn all about the history of Jewish life in London and gain insight into what it is like today.
