Virtual Walking Tour: The Jewish Community of Dublin

Hosted By: The Museum of Jewish Heritage-- A Living Memorial to the Holocaust

Dublin has been home to Jews since 1232, and while the community now numbers only 1,800, it has distinguished itself in Ireland. From Presidents to filmmakers to perhaps the most famous fictional Jew in history, Jack, the tour guide, will introduce them all. He will also explain the global histories that brought Jews to Ireland, the amazing story of the ‘Harrington Plan’ hatched in the 1650s to make Ireland a home for the Jews, and how a band of fundamentalists called the British Israelites still believe that the Ark of the Covenant is buried at Tara, the ancient Celtic capital of Ireland. From the ‘Jewish pub’ to the laneways of ‘Little Jerusalem by the Grand Canal,’ Dublin awaits
