Yiddish on the Move: Yiddish Writing and Publishing After the Holocaust

Hosted By: YIVO

YIVO will host a panel discussion exploring the reevaluation of Yiddish literary centers following the Holocaust, focusing on the shift from Eastern European hubs like Lodz, Warsaw, and Vilnius to emerging centers in Buenos Aires and Montreal. The discussion will include insights into Yiddish literary production behind the Iron Curtain in the Soviet Union and examine the roles of writers, editors, translators, and publishers in this transnational literary network. Panelists Rachelle Grossman, Matt Johnson, Harriet Murav, and Christin Zühlke, moderated by Erin McGlothlin, will also address audience dynamics, translation, and the impact of Holocaust memory and testimony.
