If not for JDate, Los Angeles would be out of one of its most popular lunch spots.
Luckily for the City of Angels, just when Trisha Langer was about to give up on online dating, her friend pushed her to give the Jewish dating site one last shot. Two kids and four years later, Trisha and her last JDate match, Adrian, opened Daughter’s Deli in West Hollywood.
But let’s back up. Before she met her pastrami-partner-in-crime, Trisha was very familiar with deli meats. In fact, she was born into a legendary Jewish deli family, owners of the famous LA deli Langer’s. After graduating college, Trisha realized she wanted to learn her grandparents’ trade. So, she worked alongside her dad for 14 years and learned the recipes of her nana and papa.
But she was still looking for a partner. Before venturing back into online dating, Trisha had to revamp her profile. “It was so funny because my father sent me an article on how to do the right dating profile and I realized I was doing everything wrong,” she told Los Angeles Magazine. “My profile was too long so this time I just put a couple of lines, one photo and then Adrian sent me an email.”

Before their first date, Adrian was already smitten. He courted her with flowers and told Trisha that she had him at pastrami. “I fell in love with her when I found out she hand-cut pastrami at her family’s deli,” Adrian said. Sure enough, they got married a year later.
Inspired by the Langer family business, Trisha and Adrian now run their own deli. “Daughter’s Deli is a place we hope will emulate the feeling of a family tradition while serving quality food,” Trisha wrote on the Daughter’s Deli website.
