In 2008, Melissa Ben-Ishay was fired from her media job. During this time, she felt inspired to pursue her true passion: baking. Fast forward one year, and Baked by Melissa was born. Founded by Joel Russ in 1914, this family-owned-and-operated establishment has since become an NYC staple. Today, the appetizing shop is run by fourth-generation owners, Josh Russ Tupper and Niki Russ Federman.

Mini Melanie was founded in 2015 by two sisters — Melanie Moss, a pastry chef who previously worked in Michelin-starred kitchens, and Diana Moss, an entrepreneur with a background in law.
